The NNECN Center was established by the Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance in 2006, as a self-sustaining entity following four years of the National Science Foundation funded Northern New England Co-Mentoring Network (NNECN). NNECN originally began as a five year (2001-2006) tri-state teacher enhancement project supporting middle and high school science and mathematics mentors and new teachers in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. It has since evolved into a physical and virtual center, headquartered at the Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance office in Augusta, Maine. The NNECN Center offers national consulting services in science and mathematics mentoring, instructional coaching, and strategies for supporting new teachers.
